In a suite of 15 scenes, most arriving in a single master shot, the Russian heroine renegotiates her pact with Russian capitalism, and the new bodies and relationships it made possible. Shot in Saint Petersberg during a sunny autumn, when our faces could still bear the old light.

Double Thing

With Anaïs Durmort.
This double-sided portrait brings together a pair of young women, one from France, the other from Russia. How can I know myself if I can't know you? Both are perceptual outsiders, sounds are amplified, eyes follow them detached from their former selves, even their own at times turn to look. To investigate. To haunt. What a relief to find someone with the same strangeness. It's been kept a secret too long, as if weird was contagious. Shot in a sunny Geneva autumn, where the rivers carry secrets lightly.
